Introduction
By letter dated September 9, 1994, Ms Mary Quick, counsel for the
employer, requestec;:J that the Board issue an order consolidating two
~ grievances, one dated July 20, 1994 and one dated August 24, 1994, with
this case which has already proceeded to a number of days of hearing. The
grievor is the same in all of these grievances, and the employer took the
position that the new grievances related directly to the grievances already
" before the Board and that for reasons of economy and efficiency all of these
grievances shquld be heard at the same time
By letter dated September 13, 1994, Mr David Wright, counsel for the union,
objected to the employer's consolidation request and took the position that
the new grievances should not be consolidated with the instant case A
number of reasons were advanced in support of this submission
"
It was the parties wish that this consolidation request be considered as -
expeditiously as possible in order to avoid attendance at previously
scheduled pre-hearings if the Board" decided to grant the employer's request.
\.,
By conference call on September 14, 1 994, counsel were advised that the
Board had decided to grant the employer's request. It was agreed, at that
time, to adjourn the hearing scheduled to proceed on September 20, 1994
It was further decided that the union would, on the next scheduled date, call
its evidence with re?pect to the two new grievances.
