The employer has requested that Elame MacLeod's Job-postmg gnevance be
dIsmIssed because she faIled to appear at the heanng scheduled for January
12, 1999 In the cIrcumstances, thIS request was not opposed by the UnIon.
Counsel for the UnIon provIded the followmg summary of
commUnICatIOns between her and the gnevor On December 23, the gnevor
was mformed the heanng had been set for January 12 On January 5, she left
a message for counsel saymg she wIshed to wIthdraw the gnevance On
January 6, after bemg told counsel thought the gnevance had some chance
of success, the gnevor reIterated her desIre to wIthdraw Counsel mformed
her that another gnevance by RosIlande Lockett, relatmg to the same
postmg, would be proceedmg on January 12 m any event. Counsel mVIted
Ms MacLeod to attend but she mdIcated she mIght not be able to be
present. No reason was gIven On January 11, counsel was told the gnevor
would not attend the next day Counsel left three telephone messages on
January 12 askmg the gnevor to call her None of these calls were returned
On the evenmg of January 12, counsel left a final message saymg If there
was no response she would assume the gnevor had decIded to abandon the
gnevance Once agam, there was no response
The gnevance IS dIsmIssed.
