MINUTES OF SETTLEMENT
Whereas the Union has brought a grievance dated January 23 1999 to arbitration on behalf of the
Grievor in OPSEU file no 99B202iGSB file no 1758/98,
And whereas the parties have agreed to settle this grievance without any further proceedings on
the followmg basIs
I The Umon withdraws the gnevance
2. The Employer will pay the Grievor the sum of $1 ,620 84 less applicable deductions, representing
78 hours of vacation time at $20 78 per hour
3 The Employer acknowledges that vacation credits will continue to accrue for employees who are
off work on account of an 1I1Jury for which benefits are being paId under the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Act.
4 The Employer will pay the Grievor the sum of $696 13 less apphcable deductions, representing
unused sick time at $20 78 per hour
5 The Employer acknowledges that sick credits will contmue to accrue for employees who are off
work on account of an 1I1JUry for which benefits are being paid under the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Act.
6 The Employer will credit the Grievor's paid holiday bank with I hour
7 The Union and the Employer agree to diSCUSS the issue of statutory holiday pay for employees off
work on account of an injury for which benefits are bemg paid under the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Act during upcoming negotiations.
8 The payments referenced above shall be made Within 4 weeks of the date of this settlement.
9 This settlement IS without precedent or prejudice solely to the issue of statutory holiday pay for
employees receiving benefits under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
