Benedict, Manager Compensation and Staff Relations Ministry of Correctional Services Hearing: September 12, 1980 180 Dundas Street West, Suite 2100 Toronto, Ontario - 2 - Mr. Wil,liam Jennings was employed in a number of positions by the Ministry of Correctional Services from July 1968 until he was dismissed on November 27, 1978. On December 6, 1978 Mr. Jennings submitted a grievance alleging that he was unjustly dismissed, which was processed to the arbitration stage. The parties voluntarily decide! to review their respective positions on this matter in April, 1980, and in order to avoid further legal costs and the cost of arbitration, they agreed to resolve the matter on the following terms that would become the decision of the Grievance Settlement Board. 1 2. 3. 4. Mr. Jennings will submit a letter of resignation effective November 27, 1978, and the dismissal will be removed from his record. The Ministry will pay Mr. Jennings a lump sum of $6,000 for damages in settlement for this and any other outstanding grievances which he had as of November 27, 1978. Mr. Jennings will waive any further complaint procedures that might arise on account of his employment with the Ministry up to .November 27, 1978. It is understood that the employer will make the usual deductions . from this settlement for income tax purposes, but without prejudice to the parties agreement that this is a settlement for damages, rather than remuneration. Upon hearing statements made to the Board this day by representative of the parties and upon reading the terms of settlement set out above ant agreed to by the parties, it is now decla.red and ordered by the Board thi I - 3 - the grievance be resolved in accordance with the said terms of settlement.
