Roach Superintendant Arrell Observation & Detention Home Hearing: May 3, 1989 Page 2 DECISION The parties reached a settlement at the hearing and agreed that the settlement be issued as a decision of the Board. Therefore in accordance with Minutes of Settlement f'fled with the Board, the Board makes the following decision. The grievor will complete a full credit course, which is to be paid for by the employer, at either a community college or university in a course related to his role as a Child Care Worker. Such course will be agreed upon between the employer and the grievor, and the employer agrees to allow the grievor time off from employment to attend the course when it conflicts with his regularly-scheduled work shift. The grievor will attend a one-day workshop, which is to be paid for by the employer, in conflict resolution given by a faculty or institution other than Anell, which coarse has been agreed upon between the grievor and his supervisor. The grievor will attend a one-day workshop at Arrell, on stress management. If the grievor is unable to attend, he shall arrange to attend an equivalent course within three months, which course shall be agreed upon between the grievor and his supervisor. The suspension set out in the letter of discipline dated July 28, 1988, shall be reduced from a three day suspension to a one day suspension and the employer will reimburse the grievor for the two days salary and benefits, if any. The employer will discuss the removal of all records of discipline which exist in the grievor's file and which are dated prior to Januay 1, 1987, with the grievor upon the grievor's successful completion of the courses referred to above. The employer will discuss with the grievor by July 3, 1989, the possibility of providing the grievor with a different supervisor. Page 3 The employer and the grievor will meet and discuss the grievor's perfomance within four months and eight months from May 3, 1989 and the employer agrees to provide the grievor with interim performance appraisals based on these meetings.
