MEMORANDUM OF SETTLEMENT
Grievance Settlement Board #. 1881/89
In the Matter of the Grievance Between:

WHEREAS the parties wish to settle the above-captioned
grievance,'.the undersigned representatives of the parties agree
to the settlement of the Union's grievance #1881/89 on the
..... following terms: .... _
1. The parties agree that the individuals specified_on.the
attached list will be placed on the call-in roster of-CPRI and
--will receive priority for call-in according to seniority~-except
when client/resident needs are deemed by CPRI management to
require the call-in of another individual.
2. It is agreed that the individuals specified on the
attached list shall receive the career counselling programme,
including resume writing, job search and interview skills
currently offered at CPRI.
3. An information kit' concerning job search techniques
will be developed by Corporate Human Resources Library and
Learning Resources and sent to all individuals specified on the
attached list within one (1) month of signing.
4. Local management shall Provide the Union local at CPRI
with monthly reports concerning the number of bargaining unit
unclassified staff at CPRI for a'period of two (2) years from the
date of signing of this agreement. These reports shall identify

how many casuals are called in, dates and hours worked, and
whether the staff are backfilling for authorized leaves of
absence, to handle peak work load, or "other".
5. Corporate Human Resources Branch, Ministry of Community
and Social Services, Toronto, will review the policies vis-a-vis
the use of unclassified staff province-wide in this Ministry with
a view to alleviating future problems and misunderstandings in
this area.
6. The parties agree that for a period of twelve (12)
months from March 1, 1992, the individuals specified on the
attached list shall be allowed to apply to all competitions,
restricted or otherwise, in the Southwest Region. It~is agreed
and understood by the parties that the provisions of Article 4.5
(relocation expenses) will not apply. In the ewent one of the
individual's applies for a competition pursuant to this
grievance, the Grievance Settlement Board will retain
jurisdiction to review the process of selection should one of the
individuals spe6ified on the attached list seek such_a review to
ensure that the competition in question meets the requisite
standards for a competition.
7. The Union hereby withdraws the above noted grievance.
8. Without precedent and without prejudice with respect to
any other matter which has arisen or may arise between the
parties, the parties hereto agree to the following~terms as full
and final settlement of the above captioned grievance and all
related matters, both Union and individual, pertaining to the
above captioned grievance.
9. The parties agree that the terms of this settlement
shall be made to be an order of the Grievance Settlement Board.
