Briggs Vice-Chair FOR THE UNIONStephen Giles Grievance Officer Ontario Public Service Employees Union FOR THE EMPLOYERGary Wylie Staff Relations Officer Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services HEARING November 6, 2008. 2 Decision [1]The Employer and the Union at the Central East Correctional Centre agreed to participate in the Expedited Mediation-Arbitration process in accordance with the negotiated Protocol. Most of the grievances were settled through that process. However, a few remained unresolved and therefore require a decision from this Board. The Protocol provides that decisions will be issued within a relatively short period of time after the actual mediation sessions and will be without reasons. Further, the decision is to be without prejudice and precedent. [2]Autumn Butsch filed a grievance alleging the Employer violated the Collective Agreement by allowing her private telephone number to be widely accessible within the institution. By way of remedy she requested that her phone number be removed from various locations as well as payment for her private number and finally, she wanted the cost of a new telephone number in the event she chose to have it changed given these circumstances. [3]After the grievance meeting held to discuss this matter the Employer removed the grievor?s telephone number from ?the server, file office, work station and on call list located in the binder in the medication room?. Further, ?all steps? were taken to ?ensure that [her] home phone number is no longer displayed for people to view it?. [4]In my view, the steps taken by the Employer are sufficient and therefore there is no further remedy ordered. th Dated at Toronto this 13 day of November, 2008. Felicity D. Briggs, Vice-Chair
