Decision [1] At the commencement of the hearing in this matter, the union indicated that it would be seeking an adjournment of the proceedings on the basis that the grievor (who was not in attendance) was ill and unable to attend. [2] The employer did not object to the adjournment, per se. The parties were unable, however, to agree to certain terms of the adjournment. They appeared before me to speak to those terms. [3] Having regard to the submissions of the parties I hereby order as follows: • The hearing is hereby adjourned until August 7, 2012 when it is scheduled to next continue. The grievor is directed to provide some independent documentation to support his inability to attend on June 5, 2012. It will be open to the employer, should it feel it is warranted, to make any arguments regarding the consequences of any failure to provide adequate documentation. • The union is directed to provide the employer, not later than July 6, 2012, with full written particulars in support of the grievance and the union’s claim(s) in this matter. • Should the union fail to provide these particulars, the employer reserves its right to seek dismissal of the grievance. Any such request may be dealt with on an expedited basis. Dated at Toronto this 20th day of June 2012. Bram Herlich, Vice-Chair
